WEST VALLEY STEM CLUB
Scholarships
Almost since its inception, the West Valley STEM Club has provided a scholarship to qualified students aspiring to a baccalaureate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math. The STEM scholarships are for qualified incoming Junior year STEM students at a four-year college. In the last SIX years, (i.e. 2019 to 2024), the West Valley STEM Club has awarded $28,000 to THIRTEEN (13) Scholarships to STEM students who were graduating from the Glendale Community College or who were enrolled in STEM Programs and who were continuing as an incoming Junior in an Arizona STEM Program.
The STEM student must have completed two years of a qualified STEM curriculum toward a four-year STEM degree, with a minimum of a 3.0 overall GPA. Demonstration of financial need and volunteerism are also criteria. Graduates of West Valley high schools are preferred. Currently one half of the annual dues of each club member are designated to the Scholarship Fund to provide, at a minimum, a $3,000 STEM scholarship each calendar year.
The successful awardee, along with one parent or guest, are invited to our April or May luncheon meeting to be introduced and give a 3-5 minute presentation on their background and career goals. After the student’s verification of Fall enrollment in a qualified STEM program, half of the scholarship will be paid to the student’s Tuition Office for the start of the Fall semester and the second half by the following Spring semester.
